Cycling Adventures

Here are a bunch of cycling trips I've taken over the years in various places, including Ontario and Florida.

Welland Canal 2021
Believe it or not, the Welland Canal is still being used for large ships to travel from Lake Ontario to Lake Erie and back.
Niagara 2022
Our annual ride from the Peace Bridge to Niagara on the Lake. What a great ride, and easy because it’s all downhill.
Cycle for Brain 2022
Ya, you have to wake up at 4am to get downtown for the start of the ride. But the sunrise over the DVP and the Gardiner was absolutely spectacular. We should do it again.
Brantford 2023
You should go somewhere with your kids at least once a year. What a fantastic time, cycling our asses off all day (like I thought I wouldn’t make it), then making dinner together and then playing music for the rest of the evening. Crikey, is there anything better??
Loxahatchee Ride 2022
Here’s a ride I took in South Florida from the end of Atlantic Blvd. to the Loxahatchee preserve where you can catch a boat to see a few crocs or something. The wind on the trail is incessant, the sun beats down on you and the trail is rough gravel with potholes all the way. On my left is the endless Everglades. Not sure I would do this one again.
Niagara 2024
Our annual ride from the Peace Bridge to Niagara on the Lake. This time we were rerouted to Trius Winery on Niagara Stone Road.
Orillia Ride 2024
Orillia is a city in Ontario, Canada, about 30 km north-east of Barrie in Simcoe County. It is located at the confluence of Lake Couchiching and Lake Simcoe. Although it is geographically located within Simcoe County, the city is a single-tier municipality. It is part of the Huronia region of Central Ontario.Â
Gordon Lightfoot was born in Orillia and sang in a Barbershop Quartet as a teenager.
Luckily, the weather was great for September.
